Under new marketing plan directives from General Motors, The Kolar Automotive Group of Duluth will be acquiring the former Luther Family Chevrolet of Duluth (Hermantown) from the Luther Family Motor Company of Minneapolis. The Duluth based Kolar Automotive Group is owned by local partners Bernie Kolar, Dave Hammer and Peter Kolar. They are the owners of Kolar Buick-GMC Truck, Kolar Hyundai, Kolar Toyota-Scion and Kolar Chevrolet-Pontiac-Buick in Cloquet, MN. The Kolar family has been in business in the Duluth area for over 40 years and their automobile dealerships have consistently received highest manufacturer awards for sales and service customer satisfaction. The new automobile dealership, Kolar Chevrolet-Buick-GMC will be opening May 17th at the former Luther Family Chevrolet site, 4183 Haines Road, Duluth (Hermantown), MN. As required by General Motors marketing plan directives, Kolar’s Cloquet Chevrolet-Pontiac-Buick Dealership will be closed and Kolar’s existing Duluth Buick-GMC franchises will be moved to the Haines Road Location. Peter Kolar, Dealer-Operator, said, “The new entity will offer northeastern Minnesota customers a convenient one stop shopping destination for their GM vehicle purchasing, service and parts needs while at the same time conforming to the new General Motors Marketing Plan”. “Our business has been continually growing and we now will have expanded vehicle display, parts and service capacity for our customers to better serve them. It was very difficult to have to close the Cloquet Dealership but we are anticipating that many of the employees will continue to work with us at our new location. We also plan to be greatly expanding our body shop in Cloquet”. The new Kolar Chevrolet-Buick-GMC will operate at the 4183 Haines Road location for approximately two years and then move into a new facility adjacent to Kolar Toyota at 4781 Miller Trunk Highway.” The Kolar Dealerships have continued to grow and expand.
